Dear Me, Be original

So it’s just past 4:30 in the afternoon. I’m chilling. Listening to some Eshon Burgundy. Sidenote, in case you were wondering money is printed on a material made of 75%cotton and 25% linen. Just thought I’d share what I learnt today.

Anyway I am sitting there taking in this music and I tell myself this is sort of the vibe I want my content to give off. From there I riff off a few more names of artists I think fit in the “vibe” I want. The more I think about it, I find myself wondering why some of them don’t make art anymore. Some went from music to straight poetry. Or they put the pen down completely. They evolved as people. They grew. Sometimes for the best, sometimes not.

All sorts of ideas drive down the road that is my mind. A thought saying “If you want that growth, you have to stop trying to work off copy like you are writing the cliffnotes for your role model’s work. Follow who God is calling you to be. People are people just like you, see the good but don’t idolize them” rolls by. You know when a car moves slowly intentionally so that everyone can see it. As that thought moves I decide to chase after it before it goes out of sight and out of mind. I eventually catch up and jump in the car…please wish me a nice journey.
